When
someone gets assaulted many may say, that person was in the wrong place at
wrong time. I would have to say that I do not agree with that. When you are not
aware of your surroundings your chances of being attack increases. Being
vigilant at all times when you are a woman on your own is a must. If you see
something that does not look right trust your intuition it never fails. Someone
is always watching, and if you get careless, you can become a victim. If you live by yourself, it helps to keep the
light on your house or apartment. Getting to know your neighbors is a plus
since they will be able to alert you of any suspicious behavior or strange
activity around your place. When running errands and decide you need to drive,
make sure you get in the car can lock it immediately. Even when you are pumping
gas in the car make sure you lock your car to prevent a complete stranger form
getting in the vehicle and to prevent your purse form being stolen. If you like
to run in the park early on the morning or at night always go with a partner.
Another suggestion would be to carry a pepper spray key chain for personal
safety. It’s a great device to carry when you are on your own. These simple
tips and suggestions can reduce your risk of an assault.
My parents have always been very protective of me when it comes to men and dating. I have never experienced any forms of sexual harassment or assault but I can understand the pain it can cause the individual.
ReplyDeleteI think prevention is really the best method. I used to carry a pepper spray as a child when I walk to school and also an alarm siren on my backpack. As you can tell, my father holds high value on self protection and I finally see why after I have my own children.
