Mrs. Tunner is a woman living in hardship due to her and spouse not being able to work because of health reasons. The family is only able to get by with the limited funds that the husband receives through disability. With limited recourses, she has to make a budget in order to make the most out the aid. She challenged with the burden of making choices between paying the utility bills or food. There is also emphasizes these issues are not a small matter, but a big concern she faces on an everyday basis. As a mother, she has to make sure that her children are feed, and she stretches every dollar by buying frozen junk food. These foods have become so common and popular because they are an easy and cheap meal that can feed an entire family.
However, there is a consequence to eating these types of food because they contain unnecessary preservatives, and they do not have nutritional value. With that being said nutritional deficiency is causing a domino effect of many health problem that are preventable. Some of the major health problems that the population is facing across that the US today are obesity, diabetes and hypertension. These issues are so common now and are still on the rise. There is a partial truth to inequity making many people chose inexpensive unhealthier food. When junk food and whole food are eaten they satisfy the need to eat and cease hunger. Nevertheless, only one of them creates health issues. Many people consume foods without thinking what they just eaten. Bio

Hello, my name is Erika, and I am thrilled to be a transfer student. This fall will be my first semester as a full-time student with distance education classes. I have two Associate degrees which are in: Applied Science in Respiratory Therapy and Liberal Arts. These degrees are an excellent foundation for better things to come along the way. There were other possible majors but decided to pursue Health Studies because it is an interesting topic. I also thought that a BS in Respiratory Care was redundant. Having an adverse portfolio is essential in today’s job market as well. My goal is to graduate by 2015 and eventually earn a Master of Science in Anesthesia. There is always room for growth and improvement, and look forward to learning something new in this course.
As a Houstonian, I am able to experience the diversity the city has to offer. My favorite color is all colors! I also have a Yorkshire terrier named Ace, and he is a handful. He has so much energy for a five-year-old dog and still acts like a puppy. I am usually busy with school and work. When there is free time, it is spent as quality time with family and traveling. My last trip was visiting Puebla, Mexico, but looking forward to the see Chichen Itza in Yucatan, Mexico. I have been on a rut with my eating habits and workouts. I hope to get back in track by at least committing three days of strength training and meal prepping. If anyone is interested in fitness, there is an app called Body Space that gives a structured workout program for free! Good luck and warm regards!
